CHATTANOOGA, Tn. (Feb. 22, 2021) – This Tuesday afternoon, the Red Wolves announced Juan Galindrez as their 17th addition to the 2021 squad pending league and federation approval.
Originally from Cali, Colombia, the 26-year-old is coming to Chattanooga with a unique backstory from his career in Mexico. Galindrez began his professional career at Club Tijuana where he quickly became the top scorer on the Xolos second team, catching the eye of the Mexican side Dorados De Sinaloa.
Galindrez then signed with Dorados for the 2018/19 season during which the late Diego Maradona was the Head Coach for the club. Maradona quickly took a liking to Galindrez, nicknaming him “Tanque”. Galindrez saw his tenure with Maradona as a key stretch in making him the player he is today, saying, at that point “working with Maradona was the best thing that had happened to me in my soccer career.” After his time at Dorados came to a close, Galindrez then went on to play for the Colombian side Fortaleza CEIF.
The striker who described himself as a powerful blend of speed, aerial game, shooting accuracy and goalscoring is eager to get started in Chattanooga. “The Red Wolves organization has a great future ahead, I’m honored to be a part of this club,” said Galindrez. “Our goal this year is to be champions and I promise to the fans of Chattanooga that I will give it my all every minute I play.”
For Head Coach Jimmy Obleda, Galindrez’s unique skill set adds another weapon to his offensive arsenal. “Juan is the 9 we have been looking for for some time,” said Obleda. “He is very mobile and agile for his size, as well as, very good with the ball at his feet. Perhaps most importantly for us, is that Juan is clinical in the box when it comes to finishing his chances.”
Galindrez is the 17th addition to the Red Wolves 2021 Roster and 4th forward. Juan joins newcomers Rafa Mentzingen, Josue Espana, Jose Carrera Garcia, Jimmie Villalobos, Jackson Dieterich, Jonathan Esparza, Jorge Luna, Daniel Navarro, Sebastian Mora-Mora and returners Ualefi Dos Reis, Ami Pineda, Ronaldo Pineda, Marky Hernandez, Ricky Ruiz, Jonathan Ricketts, Jason Ramos and Tim Trilk. More player announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
