
This Friday, Gatorade announced Red Wolves Academy player Gui Vivaldini as the recipient of the the 2020-21 Gatorade Tennessee Boys Soccer player of the year, making Vivaldini the 36th recipient in the coveted award’s history.
The Gatorade player of the year is an award that is focused on both athletic prowess but also academic achievement, which now showcases Vivaldini as the top boys player in the state of Tennessee. By winning this award Vivaldini is now in the running for the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, an award that as recent as 2019 was awarded to Omar Hernandez of Dalton High School and The Dalton Red Wolves League 2 program. Vivaldini is now in an elite group of alumni of Gatorade State players of the year joining the likes of Steve Cherundolo, Abby Wambach, and others.
A member of the Red Wolves Boys U19 ECNL Team, Vivaldi will be continuing his soccer career at University of North Carolina this fall, making him one of 19 players from his academy team to go on to play in college this year.
“Gui is a special talent. He has some genuinely mesmerizing moments on the ball,” says former Red Wolves Boys U19 ECNL Caoch Danny Mcbride. “For being 6’3, he’s extremely mobile and athletic too. He has all the tools to be a top top level player. In addition he is a fantastic young man. Academically astute, scored very well on his ACT and speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish. UNC is getting a phenomenal young man this fall”
Vivaldini led a strong senior campaign at McCallie High School, where he notched 14 goals and 7 assists, leading the team to the D2 State semifinals while maintaining a 3.88 GPA, all of which led to his selection for this award. He ended his high school career with a staggering 41 goals and 23 assists through his entirety at the school.
Vivaldini will be playing in the Tennessee vs Georgia All Star Game happening at CHI Memorial Stadium this Sunday at 4pm, all tickets to the All Star Game will also grant admission to the Chattanooga Red Wolves Professional match that evening at 7pm, the first of Chattanooga’s $2 Beer Nights where a select domestic will be $2 throughout the match
