On Saturday, September 5th, the Chattanooga Red Wolves will take on Fort Lauderdale CF (FTL) in their first-ever match up. USL League One debuted in 2019, and Fort Lauderdale CF has entered the second season as one of the recent expansion teams. FTL is the second team to the MLS Inter Miami squad which is run by David Beckham and his leadership team. The team embodies a lot of what the USL stands for by creating a strong path to pro model for talented players. The matchup will prove to be entertaining to say the least as both sides need to close out a victory and secure the three points.
The Chattanooga Red Wolves have prepared diligently for this head to head competition and will look to gain additional momentum after their 4-0 victory at home against a different MLS affiliate team, New England Revolution II. The high press style of play that Head Coach Jimmy Obleda has instilled into the 2020 group has started to set its roots and will be engaging to watch despite not being in the club’s very own CHI Memorial Stadium. The dynamic offensive duo Greg Hurst and Marky Hernandez will aim to connect in the attacking third just as they have in the past with additional help from Steven Beattie, Ronaldo Pineda, and even the outside backs as they crest the midfield line.
Playing in Lockhart Stadium will make for a thrilling game, but the stakes have reached even new heights. On the other side of the technical area at midline, Obleda will be facing off against Jason Kreiss, who has quite the resume. He is the youngest coach to ever lead a team to the MLS Championship and win, and in March of 2019, he was named the U-23 U.S. National Coach. Jimmy Obleda is known for bringing the best out of every player and will seek after yet another victory during his 2020 campaign with the Red Wolves. It has been said that the bigger they are the harder they fall, and the Red Wolves look to take the wind out of the Fort Lauderdale sails this weekend.
This matchup will be a pivotal game for both sides since the race for first has never been tighter. Each game in the season is crucial and it will be necessary for both sides to capitalize on each opportunity in front of goal. Our fans can catch all of the action on ESPN+ Saturday 9/5 at 8:00pm for this heated upcoming match up.
