
CHATTANOOGA, TN. (July 12, 2022) – The Chattanooga Red Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of Alex Tejera for the remainder of the 2022 USL League One season after a successful trial with the club. Contract Pending League and Federation Approval.
Tejera, who was born and raised in Ossining, New York, grew up playing in the New York Red Bulls Academy system and also as part of their reserve squad. Alex played Division One NCAA soccer at Siena College, where he was named an All-American and awarded rookie of the year. The center forward then moved to Uruguay to play for Mar De Fondo before returning to the United States.
On joining the Red Wolves, Tereja said he hopes to, “Help the team out in any way possible. I was brought in to bring a bit of change and hopefully I can provide that.”
Club President and General Manager Sean McDaniel said regarding Tejera, “Alex gives us a strong mid-season boost that we needed. He’s a strong, physical player and we envision him being a good weapon for us as we make a late playoff run this season.”
Head Coach Jimmy Obleda called Tereja a, “Very different player than we’ve had in the past.” Speaking on his ability and how he will impact the team’s ability to diversify its attacking style up top Obleda said, “He’s a big and strong center forward that plays very well with his back to goal, which allows us to be able to play different ways against different opponents. He’s very good in the air and he has a great nose for the goal. We are very happy to add him to our roster as we continue to push for the playoffs!”
“I’m going to be giving it my all this season and I can’t wait to see the supporters at CHI Memorial Stadium,” says Tejera excited to get things started in Chattanooga.
