Chattanooga Red Wolves SC have announced the signing of goalkeeper and academy product Charles Carriglitto to an academy contract for the 2024 season, pending league and federation approval, joining previous academy call ups of Blake Oberhozler, Gharett Morris, and Fernando Guerrero.
Heading into his sixth year in the Chattanooga Red Wolves organization, the 17-year old keeper has played in the Red Wolves academy system on the Under-20 Academy Team for two seasons and the 2007 ECNL team since its inception in 2019 in addition to experience in the Tennessee Olympic Development Program.
“Charles is a talented young goalkeeper who has come through our academy here in Chattanooga,” said Red Wolves Head Coach and Technical Director Scott Mackenzie. “He has excelled at the ECNL and USLA level and has been rewarded with an opportunity to be part of our first team for the 24 season. We are all excited about Charles’ potential and to see his growth as both a goalkeeper and a person.”
“Having Charles sign an academy contract is more proof that dedicated and hungry players are being seriously evaluated by the club,” added Luke Winter, Assistant Coach and Academy Sporting Director. “We have a path to professional soccer for our academy standouts and Charles is now an example and role model for players in our area.”
“I feel beyond blessed for this opportunity,” said Carriglitto. “This club and the Academy have helped me grow, on and off the field. I’m ready to help the team in any way possible.”
The Red Wolves will enter the 2024 Lamar Hunt Open Cup tournament in the first round and will host Brockton United FC on Thursday, March 21st. The match will be played at Central High School with all ticket proceeds benefiting the Pass It Forward initiative and will go toward academy scholarships.
