Chattanooga Red Wolves SC has signed goalkeeper Will Dieterich to its USL League One team. Dieterich will join the club for its inaugural season from Iceland’s Stjarnan FC, pending league and federation approval.
According to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC Head Coach and Technical Director Tim Hankinson, Dieterich makes a solid addition to the Red Wolves roster.
“Will is a seasoned competitor,” said Hankinson. “He’s athletic, good with his feet and a solid shot-stopper. We are happy to welcome him to the team.”
A native of Tampa, Florida, Dieterich has spent the past four and half seasons playing in Iceland. While with Stjarnan FC, Dieterich helped his team clench both the Icelandic Cup and Fotbolti.net Cup during the 2018 season.
Prior to his stint with Stjarnan FC, Dieterich rostered with UMF Tindastóll, Haukar and Grótta, making more than 70 appearances during his time in Icelandic leagues. Dieterich began his professional playing career with USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2014.
“I feel very grateful to be joining Chattanooga Red Wolves SC for the club’s inaugural season and League One debut,” said Dieterich. “Coach Hankinson has put together an impressive roster, and I can’t wait to hit the ground running and contribute to the team’s historic season.”
The Red Wolves will face Forward Madison FC for the club’s inaugural home opening night on Saturday, April 6. Kickoff is 7 p.m. local time. For tickets, visit chattredwolves.com/tickets.
