The Chattanooga Red Wolves SC will host the first round of the Lamar Hunt Open Cup match this season, the second in two years after hosting Birmingham Legion FC in the second round of the 2023 tournament. The Red Wolves will face Brockton FC United, a UPSL club based in Massachusetts. All ticket proceeds will go towards the Chattanooga Red Wolves Foundation Pass It Forward Initiative, helping scholarship academy players with financial need.
The match will be played on Thursday, March 21st at 7:30 p.m. at Central High School in Chattanooga, TN. Tickets for the match will be on sale here and can be purchased for $10 in advance or $12 at the gate. Season ticket holders will receive complimentary admission while parking will be free for all in attendance.
100% of ticket proceeds from this match will go to the Chattanooga Red Wolves Foundation Pass It Forward Initiative. This initiative aims to eliminate the financial barriers that traditionally come with playing high level youth soccer in America, making the sport available to aspiring soccer players regardless of their economic status. Since its inception this initiative has helped provide financial assistance to hundreds of players within the Chattanooga Red Wolves Academy.
“The Chattanooga Red Wolves participation in the US Open Cup has been, and always will be a highlight of each season,” said President & GM, Sean McDaniel. “Adapting to a new, last-minute shift from the original tournament format that now requires all USL League One clubs to enter the U.S. Open Cup weeks earlier than ever before required a quick pivot on our part. It required us to move locations from CHI Memorial Stadium to Central High School for the opening round of the tournament. As most fans know, CHI Memorial Stadium replaced the synthetic turf with natural grass, with the anticipation of playing our first match in 2024 for our home opener, March 30 against Union Omaha. We are very grateful to our partners at Central High School and the Hamilton County Board of Education and look forward to playing quality professional soccer at their venue on March 21st, then opening up CHI Memorial Stadium to a sold out crowd on March 30th.”
