WHAT TO WATCH FOR AND WHAT TO EXPECT
The Chattanooga Red Wolves will play their second match of the inaugural USL Jägermeister Cup on Saturday, May 11th against the Richmond Kickers following a bye week in Week 9. This match will be the first contest against an opponent outside of the Central Group with Richmond representing the East Group. The Kickers will travel to CHI Memorial Stadium once more on July 13th for the first league meeting of the two squads and will host the Red Wolves for the final road match of the year in Richmond on October 19th.
The last meeting between the clubs in 2023 saw Chattanooga overcoming a 2-0 deficit with goals from Ropapa Mensah, Richard Renteria, and Chevone Marsh for a 3-2 win, while Richmond took the first two meetings at City Stadium.
Chattanooga’s last outing on April 27th was the first match of the USL Jägermeister Cup against One Knoxville SC. The contest saw a 0-0 score until shortly into the second half when Knoxville landed a shot past the Chattanooga keeper in the 49th minute. The Red Wolves fought to even the match at one apiece, but their attempts, including a run by Chevone Marsh in the 84th minute into the final third, were thwarted by the visitors as time ran out, resulting in a 1-0 score favoring the intrastate rival.
The Kickers last played against One Knoxville SC as well, resulting in a 1-1 draw on Friday, May 3rd. Richmond trailed for nearly the entirety of the match until a goal from Adrian Billhardt two minutes into stoppage time forced the draw and gained the home side a point, the fifth point recovered from a losing position for the club.

The Red Wolves will travel to Statesboro to take on South Georgia Tormenta FC for the first USL League One match of the season since the 2024 home opener on April 20th. The club returns home on May 25th for the next USL Jägermeister Cup against Lexington SC and the Salute to Service match.
ROPAPA MENSAH NAMED USL LEAGUE ONE APRIL PLAYER OF THE MONTH
After an impressive month of April, including four goals, his first league hat trick, and one Player of the Week win, Ropapa Mensah has been named USL League One’s Player of the Month.
Mensah enjoyed a magical April, leading all players with five goal contributions on the month. The Ghanaian forward notched four goals – primarily via his first professional hat trick which came against Central Valley on April 13 – and one assist. In an undefeated 1-0-1 month for the Red Wolves, Mensah also added 25 duels won, nine shots, five recoveries and two dribbles completed. Across 180 minutes, Mensah’s 2.23 goals scored above expected were the most on the month, according to American Soccer Analysis.
