
Chattanooga Red Wolves SC drew Orlando City B 1-1 on Wednesday at Montverde Academy in Orlando. Chattanooga was able to secure one point on the road and extended its unbeaten run to seven matches.
Here are three takeaways from the second of three meetings between Chattanooga and Orlando:
SITO STRIKES EARLY
Red Wolves forward put the Red Wolves on the board just 13 minutes into the match.
After receiving a long service outside of Orlando’s 18-yard box from Vangjel Zguro off the left defensive flank, Seoane took one touch off his chest and lobbed the ball in over goalkeeper Juliano Chade’s reach, giving the Red Wolves an early lead.
The goal marked Seoane’s second goal of the season. He netted his first back on June 15 against Richmond. The Spanish forward led the team in shots on Wednesday night with a total of four, three of which were on target.
Seoane has recently become an offensive force for the Red Wolves, starting at center striker in each of the past three matches. In those, he tallied nine shots, created four chances and recorded an average 78.6% passing accuracy.
The Red Wolves are unbeaten in the five matches this season in which they took the lead within the first 20 minutes, winning four and drawing one.
ZGURO CONTINUES TO SET IT UP
Coming out of the back, Vangjel Zguro has proven himself to be an important playmaker in crucial moments for the Red Wolves. His assist to Seoane on Wednesday night marked his fifth overall, putting him tied at first place in USL League One with North Texas’ Rodriguez.
Of his five assists, three were as a result of set piece situations.
In his 14 appearances, he has created 15 chances for the Red Wolves.
MIDFIELD DISPLAY CONTINUES TO SHINE
Wednesday’s match against Orlando showed solid midfield performances from Ami Pineda, Conor Doyle and Ualefi.
Pineda recorded an 88.4% passing accuracy and two shots against Orlando. The 22-year-old has produced for the Red Wolves over the team’s past four matches, creating 12 chances, assisting three goals and netting his first goal of the season against Richmond on June 15.
Doyle led the team in both tackles and pass completion on Wednesday, recording six tackles and 97.8% passing accuracy. The McKinney, Texas native has started in all 15 matches for the Red Wolves, playing more than 1,300 minutes this season.
Ualefi posted a 97.5% passing accuracy and recorded four tackles against Orlando. The Brazilian is one of the most accurate passers on the team with a completion percentage of 86.4% and averages the most passes per 90 minutes at 49.1.
Together, these three have proven to be a prolific mix in the middle for the Red Wolves, covering a lot of ground and coming up big both offensively and defensively.
